While the core value of Milo is exactly that you don’t need to push-to-talk, yes, you can put Milo into push-to-talk mode. The large button on the front face of Milo is intended for this feature.
Milo range is up to about 2000 feet / 600m between any two Milos for multi-way voice, depending on terrain and conditions. The range is extended by the MiloNet mesh network if your group spreads out farther. We are adding a Long-Range-Mode and in our testing we are reaching over 1 mile (1.6 km). Long-Range-Mode will work well for situations where you are not near your group but still need to keep in contact. The Long-Range-Mode will work more like traditional push-to-talk.
Milo voice transmissions are encrypted and private and can only be heard by members in your group who have grouped their Milos.
We’re so confident you will love Milo that we will refund your pledge. Simply return your units within 30 days, no questions asked, no hoops.
Milo will absolutely be software updatable. We will release not only bug fixes but also significant new features via regular software updates and your Milo will continue to get better over time. New software features, including long-range-mode, will not require any additional hardware purchases.
Yes, with a set of 4 Milos, you can split it into two pairs and use the pairs separately, there is no “primary” unit to operate all 4 and any 2 of the 4 can be used independently of the other 2.
Milo has very good wind and background noise suppression – the device integrates six high performance digital microphones alongside sophisticated audio signal processing algorithms. This enables everyone in your group to be clearly heard even in windy conditions.
Milo is completely waterproof and has an IP67 rating, which means it can be submerged in up to 1 meter (3 ft) of water for a half an hour. We are testing greater depths (particularly for surfers who may go much deeper under waves, but for much shorter periods of time) and will report the results when the tests are completed.
Milo has very few moving parts outside of sealed buttons. In the same way you take care of, say, an action camera, we recommend rinsing with fresh water after use in salt water, so with care you will not have any problems. We are putting Milo through thorough thermal/water/vibration/drop and other stress tests. Milo is water-proof (IP67, fully submersible up to 1m for 30 mins).
Milo comes with a 2-year warranty. Our manufacturing partner is one of the leading global electronics manufacturers. Each Milo is comprehensively tested before leaving the factory. In the unlikely event that a unit stops working, we will replace the unit.
Yes, Milo has been tested and will work in freezing cold temperatures.
Children can absolutely use Milo. Milo is very simple and handsfree and needs no phone, so it’s suitable even for younger kids. It gives you peace of mind when your kids are out of sight.
You can bring Milos close to each other and they will not echo, unlike traditional walkie-talkies. Milo detects this condition to prevent the echo.
Milo uses a high-quality lithium polymer rechargeable battery. And just like your phone battery, it is fully integrated which allows the Milo design to be completely waterproof. The battery will last a full day on a single charge and will take about 90 minutes to fully charge.
Yes! You can mute the speaker. You can also mute the microphones via the main front button.
Yes, you can pair a bluetooth headset with Milo or plug-in a wired headset.
Milo operates in the ISM sub-GHz and 2.4 GHz bands. It does not require a license. Milo uses sophisticated channel management and will not interfere with other radio equipment.
